Early Position
What is early position? Early position is the first 3 spots at a 9-10 person table.
-Play Groups #1-4; only #1-3 if game is tight (example: almost to the final table of a tournament). Use Groups #1-5 if the game is loose. Always remember that it might be smart to play loose when everyone else is playing tight and vice versa.
-Call Raises with Groups #1-#2, #3 if game is loose.
-Raise with Groups #1 and #2.
-Reraise with AA, KK, QQ, AKs.
Middle Position
What is middle position? Middle position is the next 3-4 spots behind early position and before late position.
-Unraised pots can be called or raised with Groups #1-5. You can play Group #6 in a loose moment.
-Reraise with AA, KK, QQ, AKs, AK
-Raise with Groups #1-3 when under the gun
-Make an easy call with a raise in front of you with Groups #1-3
Late Position
What is late position. Late position is the last two spots at the table with the button being the last to act. Here is what you can do in the late position.
-You can raise with any hand here to either steal a pot or to knock weak hands that might catch against you.
-Raise with Groups #1-3 if already some weak callers in front.
-Raise with Group #1 (Although a good strategy to use once in awhile is to limp with your monster hand from this group).
-You should be looking at hands from Groups #1-2 when calling early raisers.
-You can utilize hands within Group #7 when you want to limp into a pot with your 10-9's and your 9-8's.
Blinds Protection
What is blinds protection? People steal blinds in poker. Its part of the game and definitely part of every tournament you will ever play.
-Reraise anyone with AA, KK, and sometimes QQ and AKs.
-Call with hands you would call a raise with in late position.
-Don't be afraid to reraise someone you think is stealing the blinds with any hand within Group #1-4. This is particularly useful during tournaments.
-Make the big blind call when you are in the small blind with Groups #1-6.
