Double Or Nothing Sit N Go

One of the best way to avoid making mistakes while playing your Double or Nothing (DoN) Sit and Go poker tournaments (DoNSNG), is to know exactly what are the major mistakes you could make. This way next time you will be playing a DoN SNG you will know exactly what actions you should avoid.

Even if during the recent time the competition you can find at these tournaments has started to become a little bit tougher, there are still players out there that are making some dumb mistakes, which are hard to imagine, this is the moment when you will come and profit from that.

Any player who is familiar with the common Sit and Go poker strategy is also familiar with the idea that at the early stages of the tournament it’s best to play tight. And one of the most common mistakes that Sit and Go poker players are making is to play too many hands at the early stages of the Double or Nothing SNG tournament. And this means that players will just play anything, like suited connectors or one gapers all the time, when they should only play those premium hands that can really bring some chips in return of the risk they take when they put their chip stack as the pot. And at the same time by playing a fairly tight at the early stage you can also get the chance to stay with the maximum amount of chips while you advance to the next levels.

The strategy that you will have to use at a regular Sit and Go poker tournament is different from the one that you have to use at a Double or Nothing tournament. This is because most of the players will definitely have the idea on how they are supposed to play at a DoN SNG, and they will not stack off to you if you see some premium hands before the flop.

Even if you end up with some premium hands like the AQ or AJ or just simple a pair of tens, you will not get the chance to get too much out of your opponents pocket and the moment you start throwing chips at the table since you’ve got those hands the other players will be pretty circumspect and just fold.

The Double or Nothing tournaments are certainly an interesting type of online poker tournaments since the chips value seems to be very counterintuitive. Many of the new players joining this type of SNG tournaments think that it’s going to be easier to earn some cash out of these tournaments if you think of it as half of the players at the table will win something, this is why many players will get the misconception that the chips are not valuable. Well the truth is that the chips at a DoN SNG tournament, the chips are much more valuable compared to a normal Sit and Go poker tournament.

This is happening because at a DoN you will have to survive at the table, unlike the normal SNG, where it’s all about chips accumulation. At a normal SNG tournament you can afford to make a lot of calls in hope that some of the times you will get your hands on a big pot, since at that type of tournament the number one thing you must have in mind is to grow your chips stack so that you can get rid of every single other player.

Another mistake that can be seen a lot at the DoN tournaments is about feeling obligated to call all in. For example when there are only 6 players left and out of the 6 only 5 will take something at the end of the game and there is one player which is currently the chip leader and he just keeps on calling all in, no matter what his cards are. He is feeling obligated to do that in order to get rid of that extra player. This is a mistake since he is risking a lot by doing this and since he already has a big stack he should relax and enjoy seeing the other players sweat over what’s left for them. There is absolutely no extra prize for the one that managed to kick out the last player. At a Double or Nothing tournament unless you have a really premium hand you should never use the all-in just to kick out the 6th player, your risk is too big and you should always give a chance to everybody to win.
