Texas Hold Em Strategies

The online poker player can utilize several poker strategies to be effective. Playing online allows you to hide physical tells. Since playing online is different than playing live you can act differently and thus playing a strategy you might not have live.

Here are 3 easy strategies to apply to your poker game.

Tight Tourney Strategy

1) Tournament - Depending on the field of players, you can opt to play the tight poker strategy which is what I call playing tight, but then when you have your cards or hand made, rip into your opponents if and only if they appear to have something. You will know when they have something if they call your open raise and potentially your next bet.

Bluffing Tough Poker Strategy

2) Tournament - Number of players are regardless. This is a bold and risky strategy, but one that can pay off big. I call it the Bluffn Tough Poker Strategy. Pick out 2-3 hands per 60 minute periods where you think nobody has something strong enough to call you down. Opt to either go all in on the turn or straight up outbet them whether you have cards or not. This is for psychological purposes. Otherwise they will pin you on good cards down the road and it will be very hard to win pots of size.

1) Many people in Sit and Gos like to wait out the cards and let others get knocked out. On a 10 person table its good to use a tight and bite poker strategy up until about 6 people left at the table, then attack. I mean attack everything. Attack the blinds and steal everything you can. However, at a 6 person table Attack early!. Once you obtain a decent amount of chips say 1500 or more (if the starting number for everyone is 1000), then switch to the tight and bite poker strategy. You want to wither your opponents down to where they have to make tougher decisions. They won't call you down with their J9 prayer hands once you achieve superior chip stack.

Ring Game Poker

1) I find playing like a rock seems to only work well once you have established yourself at the table. Again, tight and bite poker strategy works well as long as you start biting here early. Because in ring limit games online or home, people WILL call you down to catch their ace. Make it difficult for them and worthwhile for you. You want to utilize the Ring Game Setup often.

If someone you think is going for a flush and it hasn't hit on the turn you better raise them there.
