Mac Compatible Poker Sites

Playing poker on a Mac is much easier these days than it was in the early days of internet poker. When internet poker took off in 2003, coinciding with the worldwide poker boom, it was quite difficult to find a Mac poker site, but over time most of the major players realized they were missing out on a big chunk of the market by not offering a poker client for Mac users as well as PC users.

Nowadays all of the biggest poker sites offer a Mac option like PokerStars, Party Poker, 888poker (formerly known as Pacific Poker), and the iPoker network (which serves sites like Titan Poker and Chili Poker).

Most Mac compatible poker sites’ OS poker software is almost identical to the Windows version, so even if you’re used to playing on a PC, you should have no problem switching over to playing on your favorite poker site on a Mac, and you can even use the same account.

The fact that the poker sites use the same software for both PC and Mac poker players means that you can play all of the popular poker variants like Texas Hold ‘em, Pot Limit Omaha and Seven Card Stud, and you can play against the same player pool whether on a PC or a Mac.

As well as offering a downloadable client, some sites offer in-browser (or instant play) poker for Mac. To play in browser poker, all you need to do is simply go to the web page of the poker site in Safari, Google Chrome etc. and click the ‘Instant Play’ option. A web based version of the poker software will then load up, allowing you to play poker on your Mac without having to download the software. However, the downloadable client is usually more stable and is recommended over the in-browser option.
