WSOP Poker Overview

World Series of Poker (WSOP poker) is the biggest name in poker worldwide and it’s no surprise then that their online poker room is attracting more and more players by the day. It’s on the 888 Poker network of rooms which means you can take advantage of some of the best poker software in the world, enjoy busy player traffic and get yourself a very nice poker bonus along the way. WSOP is packed with features, so without further ado let’s find out more…

WSOP Poker First Time Deposit Poker Bonus

Everyone likes free money, especially us poker players. First time deposit poker bonuses are great ways of building up your online bankroll and are used by poker sites as incentives to get new players.

WSOP poker is no exception to the rule and is currently offering new players a bonus of up to £500, matching whatever you deposit by 100%!

The more you play, the quicker you’ll have the bonus. You need to earn Status Points, which is done by playing real money poker on WSOP. Each time you accrue 160 Status Points, £10 of your bonus goes into your account.

Make your first deposit count – if you’re going to be playing on the site a fair bit, it’s worthwhile making your first time deposit as big as you can so you get the best value from the WSOP bonus.

WSOP Poker games and stakes

WSOP Poker offers Holdem, Omaha and Stud Poker. Players from the micro-stakes to high stakes are well covered – there’s cash games here from $0.01/$0.02 to $250/$500, sit n gos (SNGs) from $0.02 to $2040, and MTTs from $0.55 to $525, so there’s something for everyone on this site.

Sometimes we all want a break from poker – and if you do, there’s a range of casino games also available including Blackjack.

WSOP Poker Reward Programme

WSOP has a good quality, simple player reward scheme. Simply put – you play money, collect points and then get rewards for those points.

Firstly you’ve got WSOP Status Points. These are earned with the aim of achieving statuses, starting at ‘Blue’ (0 points) right up to VIP Diamond (300,000 annually). Each status gives you entry into a higher value freeroll each month and various levels of cashback.

You also earn WSOP Reward Points. The more poker you play, the higher the stake and the higher your Status, the more of these you’ll earn each time. These can then be exchanged for tournament entries or cashback.

WSOP Poker player traffic

WSOP poker is part of the 888 Poker network. If you’ve not come across the term before, all it means is that a group of poker rooms come together, sharing the players in a ‘pool’, making for busier games and less waiting. Right now the 888 Network is the fourth busiest poker room/network in the world, so what you’ll find is, especially at the low and micro stakes, games that are going around the clock and SNGs/MTTs that fill up nice and quickly.

WSOP Poker software

There is plenty to like about the WSOP poker software. Because it’s on the 888 network, you get the same world-class software, just in the WSOP ‘skin’.

When you open up the software you’ll see the lobby, this is where you can find and join a poker game of your choice. There’s a few ways of doing this – you can either choose the ‘Quick Seat’ tab, where within four clicks you can be joining a cash table at the stakes you want; ‘All games’ which is self-explanatory, or ‘My favourites’ where you can apply filters to drill down to the games you want.

Finally there is a ‘Beginners’ tab which offers one-click access to low-stakes cash games and tournaments.

If you look in the bottom left hand corner you’ll see a ‘jackpot’ (at time of writing this was a whopping $80,000!). This, or part of it, can be claimed by hitting a certain hand, for example a spades royal flush. It’s a great incentive to keep playing more poker!

Your player ‘status’ (e.g. Blue for new players) is displayed in the right hand side of the lobby and also on any poker table you open up.

Players wishing to multi-table (i.e. play more than one at a time) are well catered for with software that supports an unlimited number of tables and will let you tile or cascade them. It’s also easy to get more tables up as you can use the ‘Open Identical’ button from any open table which does exactly what it says.

You can also play instantly without the need to download the software, playing instead on the WSOP site from within your browser.

Cool features of WSOP Poker

The software really is of excellent quality. One thing I love about it is you can choose from a range of table ‘themes’ if you want a change or simply don’t like the default WSOP one.

To do this you just need to click on ‘Table Options’ in the top right hand corner of any table and then ‘Settings’. From there just click ‘Table layout’. There’s ten table themes to choose from, nine card decks and four card faces, giving a large number of possible options for you.

Want an avatar for your player? In the same window click on the ‘Personal image’ tab and you’ll find over a hundred different images you can use.

As well as being able to make notes on your opponents, WSOP Poker lets you add tags and colour codes to them, e.g ‘fish’, ‘tight aggressive’ and so on. This is a very handy feature and we recommend to use it as it will give you future ‘reads’ on your fellow players.

WSOP Poker banking

WSOP makes depositing and withdrawing a breeze. From the lobby, simply click on the ‘Cashier’ button which will bring up the deposit window. From here you can deposit money on to your WSOP account using the following methods – Visa, Visa Electron, Diners, Eurocard, Mastercard, Carte Bleue Visa, Maestro, PayPal, Ukash, Moneybookers, PayPoint, paysafecard, Neteller, clickandbuy and Entropay.

The minimum deposit is just $5 but remember the more you deposit the first time, the more bonus you can claim.

WSOP Poker customer support

I don’t know about you but I like to play poker on a site where they take customer service seriously. WSOP does a great job of this – not only can you email them but you can phone them 24/7 on a freephone (i.e. toll free) number.

USA poker players

Currently WSOP Poker does not accept players from the USA.
